Circuit Diagram Software Provides You With Detailed Understanding

Circuit diagram software is mainly used in electrical and electronic design applications, which clearly shows all the possible connections between the various components that a particular circuit is made up of. The diagram would also contain the symbols of the different circuit components used to build up the system, where the positions of the components do not have any relation to the actual placement of the same on the circuit board. A circuit diagram represents the circuit that is being tested, and provides the understanding of how the circuit works. It may also be prepared at the preliminary design stage of a circuit. The circuit could then be constructed on a strip-board, before testing the whole or part of the circuit.

Circuit diagram software produces diagrams which provide the working of an electrical or electronic circuit. Such diagrams are often known as an electrical diagram, elementary diagram, or electronic schematic, and are mostly a pictorial representation of an electrical or electronic circuit, showing the connections between the components which go on to form the complete circuitry. The elements of the circuitry, which are essentially the components in the circuit, are shown in the diagram as symbols, each representing the individual component in the circuitry. Unlike block diagrams, or a layout diagram, a circuit diagram shows the connection between the components in the circuit, where the component symbols do not correspond to its physical placements on the circuit board.

Circuit diagram software is used in the purpose of circuit design, construction, such as, PCB layout, and maintenance of electronic or electrical equipment. A typical circuit diagram would consist of lines connecting two or several components, with diagram symbols depicting a resistor, capacitor, inductor, or transistor. These are unique symbols that are used to define the working of a circuit. The individual components are labeled to match the label of the list of the parts used, in such a way that it is convenient for any person using the circuit diagram to locate the component on the PCB. For example, C1 may be the first capacitor, while R12 would depict the resistor number 12. The circuit board would have these legends marked appropriately for easy identification. In a multi-layer PCB, it becomes difficult to follow the connections between the components, because some of the printed circuits are buried between layers. The circuit diagram helps to identify these connections.

The symbols in circuit diagram software differed from country to country. But this has changed over time. The symbols generally represent some of the features of the physical construction of the devices. The symbol of a resistor dates back quite some time back, which still now represents the way a resistor used to be made from a long piece of wire wrapped device. This was done with care so that it did not become an inductance. Those wire-wound resistors are now mainly used in high power applications. Today, for low power applications, we have carbon film resistors, which have the same kind of symbol as before. The Europeans used a zigzag kind of a symbol to represent a resistor, which has now changed to an oblong kind, with the value written within.

The circuit symbols used in circuit diagram software is all standarised. They use either the ANSI standard or the Y32 standard 617. Different symbols are used for different applications. For example the symbols used as a part of the architectural drawings are not the same as the symbols used in electronics or electrical schematics.
